Teaching Practicum 1: Professional Learning Communities

In this online module, students will explore models for practical, hands-on group learning such as Communities of Practice and Professional Learning Communities, and be introduced to the ALU Learning Model that they will use throughout the certificate in the Teaching Practicum. In groups of peers that meet online each week, students will go through an inquiry-based cycle in which they identify topics that they have studied in theory, design ways to apply these theories and evaluate the effectiveness of their applications through self-assessment, peer assessment, and faculty assessment. They will work to continually improve their skills in Pedagogy and Academic Practice.
